We really can’t wait for our upcoming Devon Petfest at Redlake Trading Estate, Ivybride on 6th May from 10:00 til 17:00.
We’ve got an amazing line up, which includes a gallery of super talented local artists, Lucy D, Simon Hart, Bobbie Blackler and Anna Ventura, who have all kindly agreed to donate a percentage of their profits from the day to our chosen charities, Gables Farm, Ponderosa Centre and K9 Focus.
We asked our artists to provide us with some information about who they are and what they do to whet your appetite ahead of the big event. We hope you enjoy learning a little more about them and we look forward to seeing you next Saturday!
Lucy D Photography is all about capturing your pet’s personality for you to treasure forever. There are no cloth backdrops or studio lights, just the beautiful backdrop of the Devon countryside. Whether it’s venturing out to the coastal beaches, on the rolling hills of the countryside, exploring in the woods or even chilling in your own back garden.
Photoshoots are fun for your furry friend, filled with favourite toys, yummy natural treats, from running to swimming, digging to fetching, anything that lets them do what they love and enjoy the most.
Lucy’s inspiration to photograph our furry friends started out when Milo, a 2 year old springer spaniel, joined her family. Together they ventured out, trying out techniques and exploring places she never knew were on her backdoor.
Something that is important and close to her heart is helping out voluntarily at her local animal shelter, by using her creative skills to help the animals who are waiting for their second chance to live that life they deserve and find their forever home.
Simon Hart is the creator of ‘Pawtraits’ Dog Illustrations.
These quirky dog illustrations are created with collage using vintage papers, sheet music, old maps and tweed fabrics. They really capture the personality and features of many of our much loved dog breeds. A small selection of the original artworks will be available as well as cards, prints , mugs, coasters, compacts and purses with images of many more breeds of dog.
Simon Hart is widely recognised for the unique collage style that gives his work such a strong identity. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art over 20 years ago he’s exhibited in many galleries throughout the UK and become best known for his bright and colourful seascapes focusing on the fishing villages and harbours of Cornwall and Devon. Posters , limited editions and greetings cards of his work have been published and sold worldwide, featuring in major stores such as ‘Ikea’ and ‘Habitat’. Eager to explore new directions and techniques his illustrations have also been used in children’s books, on wallpaper, textiles, rugs, magazine covers and stage sets. If this was not enough, over the last 10 years, together with his wife Theresa, they have established a successful art gallery and a publishing business in Dartmouth, Devon.Bobbie Blackler had a career in Yacht Broking before enjoying fifteen years as Managing Director of the largest marina in the Southwest. They were very happy and exciting years so it was unexpected to find how passionate she became about painting, which she took up after retiring.
Bobbie’s paintings hang in homes and businesses all around the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Thailand and Dubai. She is a member of South Hams Arts Forum, The Yealm Art Society and Plymouth Watercolour Society.
Inspiration hits her every time she wanders the cliffs and beaches around her home in Wembury.
She use pastels, acrylic, water colour, oils, and sometimes a mixture of each. Another interest is collecting driftwood from the beach to use as a canvas. Sometimes Bobbie is lucky enough to find unique pieces of driftwood which resemble something enough to be able to pick it out with acrylics.
Bobbie makes cards from all her paintings, and her work is for sale in The Gallery Project at Avon Mill, Churchwood Estate, Wild Goose in Modbury, as well as other local shops, and she is also happy to take commissions.Anna Ventura studied Fine Arts and graphic design at the University of Barcelona and carried out her final project in Illustration at The University of Plymouth.
She is well skilled in most classic art media and also has a deep understanding of print design; reaching a professional knowledge that combines a unique mix of artistic flare and digital language and enables her to apply her creative skills to different ranges of modern art and computer projects.
In this exhibition, a collection of her pet sketches will be on display and available to buy.
