Karen’s textile-inspired sculptural jewellery has its roots in historical dress design. She works with gold, silver, stainless-steel mesh and fresh-water pearls, creating a fluid line reminiscent of the folds, pleats, ruffles & fringes in fabric. The Ruffle collection is influenced by the Tudor era of flamboyant dress with its fine detailing, opulence and dramatic scale. Each piece is crafted from ribbons of silver, finely textured and hand-forged and often linked and soldered to form a densely layered, undulating surface. The pieces are either left in a naturally oxidised patina or brightly polished for extra dazzle!

A graduate in Jewellery & Silversmithing from The Cass, London, Karen has won awards from the British Jewellers Association, and The Worshipful Company of Pewterers & Horners. Selected exhibitions include ‘Rising Stars’ at The New Ashgate Gallery, The Silver Festival in Legnica, Poland, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Open Eye Gallery, the Bluecoat Display Centre and Turner Contemporary Gallery.
