Clearwater Marine is rooted in a passion for boats, craftsmanship, and life by the water.

Paul has spent over thirty years working on and restoring boats, in both fibreglass and traditional wood. Originally trained as a carpenter and joiner, his skills have evolved to include expertly crafted marine upholstery, interior and exterior cushions, and soft furnishings, all built to withstand the demands of the marine environment. Alongside this, he has nurtured a lifelong passion for designing and making practical, durable bags for everyday and specialist use.

The story of Clearwater Marine began on Exeter Quay during the restoration of Amazing Maisie, a 1955 wooden trawler. It was there that Paul met his partner, Henrietta. Working side by side, their craftsmanship and attention to detail quickly caught the eye of fellow boat owners. What started as a personal project soon grew, as they were asked to take on work for others.

Carrying their tools in Paul’s handmade bags, they began receiving requests not only for upholstery and boat covers, but for bespoke bags too, often personalised with boat names or individual logos. From these beginnings, Clearwater Marine was established.
