I am a designer and maker of indoor furniture, focusing on capturing and enhancing the natural characteristics of the grain and shape of the timber. This ethos results in unique statement pieces telling the life story of the tree.

Timber is sourced locally and sustainably from nearby farmland and my parents’ small woodland in the west country. I look for the largest and most interesting characterful windfallen trees to take slices from to produce mainly coffee and side tables.

Due to the process, each piece is unique and is both natural art and functional furniture.

I trained for 15 years creating predominantly outdoor wooden furniture, alongside being an apprentice for an indoor furniture maker in London, In 2018 I launched my company Alex Brooks Furniture.

I incorporate a range of materials. These include carpentry, metalwork which I handmake, and resin work amongst others.
