I have previously spent many years working for the NHS, initially qualifying as a Dental Nurse. My mother first taught me to knit at the age of 14, I have lost count of the number of things I have made over the last 40+ years, items that also included sewing and crochet granny squares. Knitting has always been a passion of mine and latterly I have had the privilege of knitting jumpers for the well-known London designer and Bond girl Edina Ronay (daughter of famous chef Egon Ronay) a clothing line favoured by the Royal family.
About 2 years ago, I took myself off on a crochet workshop to learn how to read a pattern, I was introduced to the world of amigurumi (Japanese for crocheting in circles) and this is when I made my first bee. Since then, I have probably made at least 500 bees initially selling them for charity and raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a personal cause close to my heart.
With the events of Covid, I re-evaluated my life and decided I wanted to do more on the craft front hence Buzz Bumble Crafts was born in January 2021, firstly online with an Etsy shop and it wasn’t until August 2021 I braved my first public event as a stallholder in Princetown with the Dartmoor Crafty Divas who were so welcoming and calmed my fears and now have me as a committee member. We hold numerous fairs in Princetown and are now venturing further afield as ‘Divas on Tour’ going to places in Yelverton and Plymouth. I also have done a few fairs with Miss Ivy Events with a few more lined up for the future.
Of course, the knitting and crochet are only done by myself and it seems to sell as fast as I make it so I needed a sideline, this is when the oil burners, mugs and various wax melts were introduced along with many other items. Hopefully, there is something to suit everyone’s taste and I look forward to seeing you at a fair alternatively you can shop online in my Etsy shop which is regularly updated.
I also offer crochet classes and 1-1 sessions.
