I have always made lamps for myself from slightly unexpected items which I’ve found on my travels. As a teenager, I brought back water jars from Cyprus and Spain, and more recent finds have been mostly from France. These have ranged from teapots to vine sprayers, from downpipes to bugles. Friends were beginning to ask me to convert items for them and seeing as I was ‘lamped up’ myself, the idea for the shop was born. I have now sold well over a hundred lamps which means I have a valid excuse to spend my time rummaging in dark corners looking for suitable items to turn into lamps, being particularly drawn towards country items and objects that are rare or no longer used for their original purpose. I often come across vintage lights and find it rewarding to refurbish these for contemporary settings.
