Hi, I’m Sally, I see myself as a creative rather than just an artist, my loves in life are painting, being in and at one with the ocean, and my dog.

I’m inspired and invigorated by the beautiful North Devon coastline and the rolling hills of Exmoor. As well as being in awe and exhilarated by this beautiful landscape and natural world, I am an ardent protector of it.  I am a passionate environmentalist and fundraise for Surfers Against Sewage, RNLI and Air Ambulance amongst other charities.

I use the inspiration from the landscape to try to create emotional and stimulating filled artwork, mainly ocean inspired but in expressionistic, impressionistic, and abstract styles, depending on my mood, the subject, and my feeling for the piece as it evolves.

I create on canvas, paper, wooden panels, and sometimes just on a piece of old, forgotten wood washed up on the beach.  I mainly use acrylic and ink, but sometimes spray, charcoal, and pastels, it just depends on the piece and the emotion I’m trying to recreate.  All my work is as eco as possible, and always use recycled and/or biodegradable packaging when sending pieces to customers.

My work, is very tactile and textured, trying to demonstrate the rough and soft elements of such an elemental landscape, where waves crash or gently roll, where wind, storms, rain and sun can be calm and brutal within the space of an hour or two.  I try to capture the huge skies, the beautiful sunrises, sunsets and vast clouds that seem to be endless and stretch to the end of the horizon.

I hope that I’ll be able to create for the rest of my life, having come to painting quite late, it has been my solace, my therapy, my love and now is a key element in my very happy life in this beautiful place.
