Its So Good To Be Back!

Last weekend saw the long awaited and much longed for return of Miss Ivy after a hiatus of seven months, and it really is so good to be back.

It was a day of elation! Oh, to be trading once again!

There were so many moments of warm fuzzes when customers and exhibitors alike told how they had missed us, the support we give to small businesses and the contribution we make to the local economy. And it really did feel like a new beginning, a time for optimism, it gave me a real sense of excitement about the future.

As some of you will know, three months or so ago I embarked on creating a new business venture. The original idea was born out of long months in lockdown. I'd spent the weeks and months contemplating and cogitating, working out the finer details. Then, as if by magic the planning was done and the 'Chic Eco Boutique was launched at our Saturday Upcycled Market in Tavistock's historic Butcher's Hall.

Now I've many years' experience running my own shops. But I'll admit to feeling a teeny bit rusty, it had been 8 long years after all!  But I'd enjoyed the process of putting the Chic Eco Boutique together, had loved the buzz of finding the suppliers and creating the brand. It had felt right!  Then, to see it all come together at this event. To be able to stand back and admire my stall, with its website about to launch was a proud moment. The Chic Eco Boutique's ethos is all about sustainability, eco products and Upcycling, you probably won't be surprised to learn that the interest shown in the products by shoppers on the day was truly inspiring.

So dear reader, never underestimate what determination and hard work can achieve. As I reflect on the last stage of my Covid journey and make plans (hopefully!) for the rest of 2021, I am so grateful for the time that lockdown gave me. Time to re-evaluate what is important to me, and how to ensure that my businesses are able to flex with change, and move forward with the times, with new values that are in tune with my own and leave me feeling fulfilled:

  • supporting small businesses
  • growing my new brand
  • and listening to my customers and meeting their needs

I have also learnt you need to listen to your heart, and if you can make even a small difference to this world at the moment then do it.

I look forward to welcoming you all to one of our 2021 events.
